InnPower is the distributor
InnPower Corporation distributes to Innisfil, and it is one of the smaller municipal utilities still operating independently in this region. For a service upgrade that generally means a shorter queue than a provincial utility, and a local office that knows the streets.
The shoreline, and Section 78
The Lake Simcoe shore through Alcona and south carries a long run of docks and boathouses. Section 78 of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code covers marine wharves, docking facilities, fixed and floating piers and boathouses, and rule 78-050 requires ground-fault protection on exterior 15 A and 20 A receptacles at them. As on Georgian Bay, a large share of what is installed here predates that rule.
Converted cottages are the recurring find
A great deal of the older shoreline stock started as seasonal and has been winterised since. The pattern that produces is a small original service, an addition wired at a different decade to a different standard, and electric heat added last. It is the most common reason an Innisfil service upgrade turns out to be a partial rewire as well.
The new build side
The subdivisions inland went up recently with 200 A services, and their work is car chargers, hot tubs and finished basements. Those are quoted on run length and load calculation rather than on remediation.
